Precision Medicine is the Goal of PIC-SURE

 

President Obama gave a very clear mandate for precision medicine on Friday (nice summary here). The PIC-SURE mission is fully aligned with this mission because it was inspired by the original report from the National Academy of Sciences. We will integrate genomic, clinical, environmental and social web data (for starters) to get a much more precise perspective on diagnostic state, prognosis and therapy selection. Welcome to the PIC-SURE (pronounced “picture”) blog. PIC-SURE (Patient-centered Information Commons—Standardized Unification of Research Elements) is a BD2K Center of Excellence led out of Harvard Medical School. Our principal goal is to enable data from patients of various stripes, provenances to be used together to improve our ability to provide precise diagnoses and therapeutic recommendations.
